According to the Brazilian Association of Personal Hygiene, Perfume and Cosmetics, the Northeast is the fastest growing region in the personal hygiene sector, with an average of 5% per year.

OVERVIEW OF THE SECTOR

According to Abihpec (Brazilian Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics), the Northeast is the fastest growing region in the personal hygiene sector, with an average of 5% per year, very significant in relation to the national average, of 2.5% per year. In this scenario, Bahia is responsible for 30% of the national consumption of cosmetics and emerges as the fourth producer of the chain in the country. Our capital, Salvador, is already the third city in the country with more beauty salons.

In the state there are 83 companies installed, representing more than 50% of the number of industrial units in the Northeast, where there is a park installed of 256 companies.

Formal employment in the personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector has an average growth of 8.1% per year in the state. This is a result of private investments in the order of R $ 830.8 million between 2012 and 2017. The most significant of these is the Boticário Group plant in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, with R $ 731.8 million.

The culture of health care and well-being currently propagated has made the male public contribute to the increase of sales of the products of the sector. With this, there are increasing opportunities for the implementation of the production chain of cosmetics, packaging and plastics.
