Research and Innovation

The government of Bahia is committed to training qualified workforce to meet the intense demand of the industrial sectors.

Different actors are involved in conducting innovation research and development in Brazil. The government, through public universities, technological institutes, research promotion agencies and more recently Embrapii (Brazilian Company of Research and Industrial Innovation), is the main one. Incubators, technology parks, private investors, companies and systems such as the National Industrial Learning Service (Senai) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) are also part of the Brazilian innovation scenario.

>TECHNOLOGIC PARK
Associating innovation and technology with education and good business, Bahia has in its Technology Park, founded in 2012, a new institutional architecture, developing an environment, besides being sustainable, capable of adding important values, attracting intelligence, infrastructure and services necessary to growth and strengthening of technology-intensive companies.As a proposal to host a consortium of university research, incubators and technology-based companies. The Park operates in the following areas::
• Biotechnology and Health;
• Information and communication technology;
• Energy and Engineering.
In its structure, the Park brings together public power, the academic community and the business sector, working in an integrated way in the units of laboratories, technological institutions, thematic networks and incubators, generating innovative business and solutions. All effort provides:
• Promotion of new skills through research and development (P&D);
• Organizational learning;
• Creating opportunities for new business;
• Technology transfer and process and product innovation.
The Park currently has 34 companies, of which 20 are startups and the other 14 are resident companies.

>SENAI CIMATEC
Promoting professional training at all levels, SENAI / CIMATEC has already enabled more than 8,500 workers to work in the automotive industry, offering specialized training in the area of ​​development, design and manufacture of automobiles, parts and systems, as well as 12 technical courses for others industry segments and eight technology majors. The institution also offers postgraduate and MBA in several areas and master’s degrees in Industrial Management and Technology.

>CEPED – CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Multidisciplinary center that concentrates its activities essentially in five areas of knowledge: chemical and petrochemical, mining and metallurgy, ceramic and polymer materials, environment and food. This center is an integrating environment that aims to serve the industries installed in Bahia, with support of workshops, laboratories and access to specialized technical equipment. The center also has land to house the installation / construction of industrial pilot plants.

This space also counts on the presence of a business incubator specialized in the area of ​​engineering, Áity Industrial. Because CEPED has an adequate environmental license for industrial waste, this space can host spin-offs of large companies based in our State that can transform the knowledge generated in the teaching and research institutions of Bahia and that have the possibility to negotiate these products in all major international markets.

>IN3 – INVESTMENTS IN INDUSTRY INNOVATION
The Program aims to improve the competitiveness of Bahian industry through the development of innovative projects. The first stage of the program will support small and medium-sized industries, whose revenues are between R $ 3.5 and R $ 90 million per year.

This is an important opportunity for Bahia’s or Bahia-based industries to develop innovative projects and implement the internal culture of innovation, with government support, from the conception of innovation to the placement of the product in the market. In addition, the Program aims to act in a systemic way, giving greater dynamization and structuring to the state innovation system and integrating the actors present in this.

>FAPESB
Institution of public law, with the purpose of stimulating and supporting the development of scientific and technological activities, acting in the process of expansion of the intellectual capital and technological capacity of the State, seeking to stimulate its economic and social development.

Created in 2002, its mission is to shorten the road to overcoming regional inequalities. It is understood that much of this overcoming is achieved through the use of science, technology and innovation in its various aspects.
